The short answer

Pick OmniNotch if you sell through many storefronts or use several AI coding tools. Its revenue view covers seven payment providers. Its AI Usage view covers Claude, Codex, Cursor, Copilot and Grok.

Pick NotchStack if you build with Claude Code or Codex and want the notch to tell you when your agent is done. It also comes with three looks, and its early-bird price is lower: €4.99 for the first 50 buyers, then €9.99.

Both are one-time purchases, both work on Macs without a notch, and both keep your data on your Mac.

What both apps do

OmniNotch and NotchStack follow the same basic pattern. You hover the notch, or click it, and a panel opens with a dock of tools along the bottom. On a MacBook it grows out of the real notch. On a Mac mini, an iMac or an external display, each app draws its own floating notch at the top of the screen.

The everyday tools overlap heavily:

  • Now Playing with artwork and playback controls
  • Clipboard history
  • File shelf for parking files
  • Calendar and reminders
  • Timers, weather, stocks, a unit converter, emoji, a teleprompter and a camera mirror

Both apps also have an on-device assistant built on Apple Intelligence: Ask Omni in OmniNotch, Ask in NotchStack. It only works on Macs that have Apple Intelligence turned on.

Both are aimed at the same person: someone who keeps a terminal, a payments dashboard and an AI tool open all day. That’s why both read AI usage and sales totals, which most notch apps don’t.

Where OmniNotch goes further

More payment providers. OmniNotch says its Sales tool combines “Stripe, Shopify, Lemon Squeezy, Gumroad, Dodo, Polar, and Paddle in one total”. NotchStack’s Revenue tool reads Stripe and Dodo Payments. If you sell on Gumroad or Shopify, OmniNotch covers you today.

More AI tools. OmniNotch lists session and weekly limits for Claude, Codex, Cursor, Copilot and Grok. NotchStack covers Claude Code and Codex, reading them on your Mac.

A money-back guarantee. OmniNotch’s site lists a 7-day money-back guarantee. NotchStack has a 3-day free trial instead, so you try every tool before you pay.

Where NotchStack is different

Alerts when your coding agent finishes. NotchStack installs a small hook in Claude Code and a notify line in Codex. When an agent finishes, or stops to ask for permission, a card drops from the notch with the project name and the agent’s last message. OmniNotch’s site doesn’t mention this. If you run long agent tasks, it’s the feature you’ll notice most. We explain how the hooks work in our guide to Claude Code notifications.

The closed notch keeps working. Even with the panel closed, NotchStack shows something useful beside the notch. You choose music and timers, or your agent’s status next to today’s revenue.

Three looks. Minimal (monochrome), Playful (each tool in its colour) and Neon (electric colours with a glow, the default). OmniNotch’s site talks about choosing and ordering tools, not themes.

Price. OmniNotch lists $19.99, currently on sale for $9.99. NotchStack will be €4.99 for the first 50 buyers and €9.99 after that. Both allow three Macs per licence.

Privacy

The two take the same position. OmniNotch says AI usage is read “from the tools already on your Mac” and that sales keys are “read-only” and kept in the Keychain. NotchStack works the same way:

  • AI Usage reads Claude Code’s limits from its status line (through a small local bridge you approve) and token counts from Claude Code and Codex session files on your Mac.
  • Revenue uses read-only Stripe or Dodo keys stored in your Keychain.
  • Calendar, reminders, clipboard and notes never leave your Mac.

Neither app needs an account. Our privacy page lists exactly what NotchStack sends over the network: weather, stock prices, lyrics, your own sales and licence activation.

Which one should you choose?

Choose OmniNotch if:

  • you sell on Shopify, Gumroad, Lemon Squeezy, Polar or Paddle,
  • you use Cursor, Copilot or Grok and want their limits in the notch,
  • you want an app you can buy today.

Choose NotchStack if:

  • you work with Claude Code or Codex and want to know when the agent is done,
  • you’d like the closed notch to show live revenue or agent status,
  • you care about the look (three themes),
  • you want the lowest price: €4.99 if you’re among the first 50.

How we compared

We read OmniNotch’s own website on October 9, 2026, and quote it directly where we can. In the table, a dash means OmniNotch’s site doesn’t mention the feature. It doesn’t mean OmniNotch can’t do it. If something here is out of date, email us and we’ll fix it.
