What stays on your Mac.
Last updated October 10, 2026
The short version
NotchStack has no account and no tracking. Your calendar, reminders, clipboard, notes, files and AI usage are read on your Mac and stay there. We never see them. The app tells us once when your free trial starts (below), so we know how many people are trying it.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
If you joined our pre-launch waitlist, your email address is stored by our website host, Cloudflare, for the launch announcement only. We use it for that one email and nothing else. To have your address deleted, reply to that email or write to support@notchstack.app.
The app: what stays on your Mac
- Calendar and Reminders are read through macOS, only after you allow access.
- Clipboard history, Quick Note, To-Dos and the File Shelf are stored locally.
- Mirror uses the camera only while it is open. Nothing is recorded or sent.
- AI Usage reads Claude Code's limits from its status line, through a small local bridge NotchStack adds only after you allow it, and counts tokens from the session files Claude Code and Codex keep on your Mac. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- Agent alerts come from a local hook in Claude Code or Codex that you can turn off in Settings.
- Now Playing reads what Music or Spotify is playing on your Mac.
The app: what goes over the network
- Weather: the coordinates of the city you choose are sent to MET Norway (api.met.no) to get the forecast. NotchStack doesn't use your location.
- Lyrics: while Now Playing is open with lyrics on, the song's title, artist, album and length are sent to LRCLIB (lrclib.net) to fetch synced lyrics. You can turn lyrics off.
- Stocks: the ticker symbols on your watchlist are sent to Yahoo Finance to get prices.
- Revenue: if you connect Stripe or Dodo Payments, the app uses your read-only key to fetch your own sales directly from them. The key is kept in your macOS Keychain.
- Trial start: when your free trial begins, the app sends one message to notchstack.app with a random install ID, the app and macOS versions, your Mac's model name (for example "Mac16,10") and its language. If you type your email address during setup, it's included so we can write to you about your licence and updates; leaving it empty is fine. Our host, Cloudflare, adds your country; we don't keep your IP address. Nothing else is sent, and the app works the same if the message never arrives.
- Licence: when you activate, your licence key and your Mac's model name (for example "MacBookPro18,1") are sent to Dodo Payments so you can manage your 3 activations.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments as the merchant of record. We receive your email and order details from them to deliver your licence; we never see your card.
